biography
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, of Austrian and English descent, Yvonne Ayoub is an award-winning UNESCO artist, classically trained in the Performing and Creative & Decorative Arts. After a successful career as a ballet dancer performing on stage & television, she taught classical ballet for many years before helping her Lebanese husband to build and run a successful London-based Print and Design company and raise their two children. Having traveled extensively since childhood, the one constant in her life, from her earliest years, has been her passion for painting and drawing.
Today as a freelance artist, Illustrator and photographer, Yvonne, although based in central London, continues to live a nomadic life travelling extensively and for some of the year lives on the idyllic 'Mamma Mia' island of Skiathos, Greece, where as well as painting and regularly exhibiting new work (in Both Athens and Skiathos) she runs an ARTIST RETREAT and welcomes visitors (artists, students and tutors) from all over the world. see: "PAINTING SKIATHOS"
"I work mostly to commission in a wide variety of media, using a broad range of artistic disciplines, bold use of colour and keen observation skills. In my paintings I try to reflect and promote the rich diversity of the many fascinating cultures I have personally experienced . Constantly seeking artistic inspiration, I have a particular fascination for how art, in all its forms (fine art, sculpture, photography, music, dance, theatre, literature, poetry etc) continually pushes established parameters and finds new direction and expression. Presently my greatest challenge is to capture the purity of light and bright, vibrant, intensity of colours, that are unique to the Greek islands in the Aegean. At the same time I have an on-going passion for (and a keen desire to perpetuate) the traditional craftsmanship skills and techniques that are all too quickly disappearing from our modern world. I believe art is the true food for the soul and that it should be easily accessible, widely celebrated and freely enjoyed by all. It is a common language we all can share regardless of any geographical, political, economical, cultural, racial or religious differences".
Thank you for visiting......and please keep an eye on her galleries, as new paintings and photographs are added regularly.
Hello!
My name is Yvonne Ayoub, as well…
A few years ago, while completely shunning productivity at work, I decided to google myself and found your site.
You are gifted and inspiring.
Thank you for posting some of your work!
Regards,
Eve
